The main objective of the ThinkGut project is to work from a cross-border consortium of experts in microbiota-cognition interrelationships, through exploratory tools and human databases with the potential to generate personalized diagnostic-therapeutic tools focused on preventing, diagnosing, and treating neurocognitive disorders associated with aging and obesity.<\/p>\n
From this general objective, three specific objectives are derived, corresponding to the biomedical, biotechnological, and educational areas.<\/p>\n

The specific biomedical objective is to focus on the creation of a cross-border anonymized repository with clinical-biological information on the microbiota-cognition relationship.<\/p>\n
With the participation of more than 1700 people, this repository will lead to the development of multi-scale systems biology models for the gut-brain axis in humans and humanized mice.\n<\/p>\n

These contemplate the inclusion of bacterial profiles as new biomarkers, the identification of innovative mathematical models, and humanized mice models. The objective is that the results of the research process generate tools that allow the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of neurocognitive disorders associated with advanced age and obesity.[\/et_pb_blurb][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.5.6″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_blurb title=”Training Objective” image=”https:\/\/thinkgut.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Eje01.png” icon_alignment=”left” image_max_width=”50%” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” header_font=”|700|||||||” custom_css_blurb_title=”padding-bottom:30px;”]The training objective is focused on the instruction of specialists in the interrelationship between microbiota and cognition, within the cross-border territory. As this is a completely new field of research, there is a growing demand for trained professionals.
\nIn this sense, teaching efforts will be directed to doctoral, postgraduate, and undergraduate programmes, as well as to educational institutes of vocational training and high school.
